The short version: RemoteMyDesktop is built so that almost nothing about your sessions ever reaches us. This page explains the handful of places data does change hands, in plain language. It is a starting point for our policy; if you operate under a specific regulation, have your counsel review it.
Your remote sessions
When you connect two machines, the screen, keystrokes and files travel end to end encrypted. Keys are agreed directly between the two computers. If your connection passes through our relay, the relay forwards sealed bytes it cannot read and stores none of them. We do not record your screen, your input, or the files you move.
Desk IDs and the relay
To let two machines meet by Desk ID, our relay briefly knows which encrypted connection should reach which Desk ID while a session is being set up. It does not log the contents of the session. A Desk ID is derived from the machine's own key; it is not tied to your name or email.
The website and contact form
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you use the contact form, the name, email and message you type are emailed to us so we can reply, and nothing more. If you email us directly, we keep that correspondence to answer you.
To keep the forms free of spam, our server keeps a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address and of what you sent for at most 24 hours, never the address or the text itself. The picture code on the contact form is made by our own server; no third-party captcha service sees your visit.
Payments
If you buy a paid plan, payment is handled by our payment processor, who receives the details needed to take payment. We receive a record that you are a customer, not your card number.
Your choices
- Use it on your LAN with no relay, and no part of the connection leaves your network.
- Ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to delete it.
- Stop using the service at any time; there is no account to connect on a LAN or by Desk ID.
